Paper Title: WIND FARM SITE ASSESSMENT USING MEASURE
–CORRELATE-PREDICT (MCP) ANALYSIS
|
Abstract of the paper
|
|
The most critical input for assessing a wind farm site is
reliable and availability of wind data. The general practice is to
measure wind at a reference location and extrapolate it for a proposed
site. If area is very large (say thousand of hectares), this may cause
error in energy prediction. Measure correlate prediction (MCP) method
can provide long-term predications of the wind characteristics from the
short-term measurement at the target site. The reference site and target
site data are analyzed to determine the correlation between the two
sets of data. This correlation is then used to predict the wind
climatatology at the proposed wind farm site. This method is validated
with the measured data of the observed site.
